6 Specialised Master’s Degrees Newly Listed in the November 2026 CRICOS Dataset
Biosecurity, quantum technology and critical resources are among the subjects represented in six master’s course records newly appearing in Australia’s November 2026 CRICOS dataset.
CRICOS.net selected these records by comparing the October and November course files. Across all qualification levels, the comparison identified 364 newly appearing provider-course records, including 23 classified as Masters Degree (Coursework). The six programmes below are an editorial selection, not the complete list of master’s additions.
“Newly appearing” means that a provider-course combination was present in the November file but absent from the October file. It does not establish when a programme was created, whether applications are open or whether a particular applicant meets the entry requirements.
The six listings at a glance
All amounts are in Australian dollars and come from the November 2026 CRICOS course dataset. The listed tuition figures should not be read as annual fees. The estimated total course cost is the sum of the tuition and non-tuition fields recorded for each course.
| Programme | University | CRICOS code | Registered duration | Listed tuition | Estimated total course cost |
| Master of Biosecurity | University of Melbourne | 121749D | 104 weeks | A$124,791 | A$124,945 |
| Master of Science (Advanced) in Quantum Technology and Instrumentation | Australian National University | 121736J | 104 weeks | A$117,930 | A$118,702 |
| Master of Science in Critical Resources | Australian National University | 121737H | 104 weeks | A$117,930 | A$118,702 |
| Master of Environment | James Cook University | 121754G | 104 weeks | A$89,662 | A$90,162 |
| Master of Advanced Midwifery | Monash University | 121724B | 104 weeks | A$96,902 | A$96,902 |
| Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Educational Leadership) | Swinburne University of Technology | 121477A | 104 weeks | A$76,100 | A$76,100 |
All six records show Expired: No in the November file. That field does not confirm that an intake is open.
The estimated totals range from A$76,100 to A$124,945 across this selection. The courses cover different fields, so the figures are a starting point for comparing recorded costs, not a comparison of equivalent curricula or professional outcomes.
1. Master of Biosecurity — University of Melbourne
CRICOS code: 121749D November dataset: 104 weeks; A$124,791 tuition; A$154 non-tuition; A$124,945 estimated total.
The November file contains a University of Melbourne record titled Master of Biosecurity. The course title identifies the broad subject, but the dataset does not describe its units, assessment methods or admission requirements.
A university course page matching this exact title and CRICOS code could not be confirmed during this review. The record therefore cannot establish whether the programme includes a particular specialisation or research component, or which previous qualifications satisfy its entry requirements.
Applicants interested in the listing should ask the university for the handbook, campus, international intake and entry requirements for 121749D. The estimated total is the highest among these six records, but it is not a complete personal budget or an individual offer.
2. Master of Science (Advanced) in Quantum Technology and Instrumentation — ANU
CRICOS code: 121736J November dataset: 104 weeks; A$117,930 tuition; A$772 non-tuition; A$118,702 estimated total.
The Australian National University describes this Advanced programme as study in quantum technology and precision instrumentation. Its programme handbook confirms CRICOS code 121736J and describes a research project and thesis as part of the degree.
The programme brings together the scientific and technical aspects of quantum technology and instrumentation. ANU’s description discusses fields including quantum computing, measurement and communications. For the research project, the handbook says the topic must be in quantum technology, instrumentation or both.
For the 2027 academic year, ANU lists a bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5.5/7.0, including at least eight courses in a cognate discipline that also meet the stated minimum GPA. ANU identifies physics, engineering and mathematics as cognate disciplines. Other admission and English-language requirements apply.
The handbook states that the programme is available for applications to commence from first semester 2027. It also specifies a progression requirement for the research project: students must achieve a minimum 70% average in the first 48 units of coursework and obtain supervisor approval. Applicants should confirm their own eligibility, available intake and offer conditions with ANU.
3. Master of Science in Critical Resources — ANU
CRICOS code: 121737H November dataset: 104 weeks; A$117,930 tuition; A$772 non-tuition; A$118,702 estimated total.
ANU’s Master of Science in Critical Resources focuses on the Earth science of minerals and other materials relevant to the energy transition. Its published subjects include resource exploration, data science for Earth system scientists, source-to-resource systems and the geodynamic processes that influence resources.
The published structure includes a 12-unit applied Earth Science project, as well as science communication and options related to policy and environmental governance.
The ANU programme handbook confirms CRICOS code 121737H. For the 2027 academic year, it states that applicants need a bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0, including at least eight courses in a cognate discipline meeting the specified GPA requirement.
ANU lists fields such as Earth and marine sciences, physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and engineering among its cognate disciplines. Other admission and English-language requirements also apply.
The handbook states that the programme is available for applications to commence from second semester 2027 and is available for admission in the second semester each year. Prospective students should confirm the applicable intake and conditions for their own application.
4. Master of Environment — James Cook University
CRICOS code: 121754G November dataset: 104 weeks; A$89,662 tuition; A$500 non-tuition; A$90,162 estimated total.
James Cook University’s Master of Environment appears in the November file as a coursework master’s record. Its title identifies an environmental field of study, but the record does not establish which subjects, research options or professional pathways belong to this registration.
The full university course page and its relationship to 121754G could not be confirmed during this review. In particular, the November record alone does not establish whether the course is currently available to applicants intending to study on an Australian student visa.
Before relying on the listing, ask JCU for the current handbook and confirm the course code, campus, intake, admission requirements and student-visa availability. The dataset’s Expired: No value does not answer those questions.
5. Master of Advanced Midwifery — Monash University
CRICOS code: 121724B November dataset: 104 weeks; A$96,902 tuition; A$0 non-tuition; A$96,902 estimated total.
The November file includes a Monash University record titled Master of Advanced Midwifery. Its registered duration is 104 weeks, and the recorded estimated total is the same as the listed tuition because the non-tuition field is A$0.
Monash publishes information about Advanced Midwifery, but the relationship between that published information and the new record 121724B has not been confirmed. A separate Monash course document refers to a pathway with CRICOS code 098319M. Similar titles do not establish that both records have the same curriculum, entry requirements or study options.
Ask Monash which handbook applies to 121724B and whether applicants need an existing midwifery qualification or registration. The title alone does not establish that the programme is an initial qualification for someone without midwifery training, or what professional recognition an individual graduate may receive.
6. Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Educational Leadership) — Swinburne
CRICOS code: 121477A November dataset: 104 weeks; A$76,100 tuition; A$0 non-tuition; A$76,100 estimated total.
Swinburne University of Technology’s Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Educational Leadership) has the lowest listed tuition and estimated total among the six records in this selection.
The title combines early childhood teaching with educational leadership. The November record does not, however, provide a full unit list, academic prerequisites or the programme’s professional-approval status. A complete Swinburne course page matching the exact title and code could not be confirmed during this review.
The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority’s list of pending programme assessment applications includes a Swinburne programme with this title. Inclusion on that list means an application has been submitted for assessment; it is not proof of approval.
Applicants should request the current course handbook, entry requirements, placement information and international intake for 121477A. Anyone seeking teacher registration or a regulated early childhood role should also check the current approval and registration position with the university and the relevant authority.
What these listings do—and do not—tell applicants
The six records answer a specific question: which selected provider-course combinations appeared in the November file after being absent from the October file? They also provide a consistent set of registered duration and cost fields for an initial comparison.
They do not establish that a degree was created in November. A course may have existed earlier in another form or under another registration. Nor does a CRICOS record alone confirm an open intake, a particular campus or an applicant’s eligibility.
The figures also have limits:
- Registered duration is a property of the record, not necessarily every student’s individual study plan.
- Listed tuition in this comparison is the figure in the course record, not a confirmed annual fee.
- Estimated total course cost combines the recorded tuition and non-tuition fields; it is not a complete estimate of living costs or a substitute for an individual offer.
- Professional recognition depends on the programme, applicable approvals and the requirements of the relevant authority.
For a comparison with another period, see CRICOS.net’s August 2026 master’s additions. That article covers a different selection and should not be read as the November list.
Before adding a programme to your shortlist
Use the CRICOS course code when asking a university for information. It helps distinguish a specific registration from another programme with a similar name.
Before applying, check:
- Academic prerequisites: whether your previous qualification includes the required subjects and grades.
- International intake: whether applications are open for the intended intake and visa circumstances.
- Course structure: whether the handbook describes the same code, campus and pathway.
- Duration and credit: whether prior study could affect the duration in your individual offer.
- Fees: whether the university is quoting an annual indicative fee, a full-course estimate or an individual offer.
- Professional status: for teaching or midwifery, whether prior registration is required and what approvals or registration outcomes apply.
Methodology
CRICOS.net compared the supplied October and November 2026 CRICOS course files using the combination of CRICOS Provider Code + CRICOS Course Code. A record was counted as newly appearing when that combination existed in the November file but not in the October file.
The comparison identified 364 added provider-course records across all course levels, of which 23 were classified as Masters Degree (Coursework). The six programmes in this article were selected editorially from those 23; they are not a ranking or a complete catalogue.
Course titles, codes, duration and fee fields come from the November snapshot. University and regulator sources are used separately for programme content and professional-status context where they could be identified. Their publication periods and fee bases may differ from the November dataset.
